July 2007

Despite the recent weather this event is still taking place as originally planned and will not be cancelled under any circumstances

L+M Events is delighted to announce details of its 2007 Mini Masters Trial that will take place as part of the TMX Grand Prix Great Britain, which will be held at Hawkstone Park over 28/29 July. Introduced for the first time last year, the Mini Masters Trial proved to be one of the highlights of what was a great weekend, as trials heroes from the past were reunited for a one off battle at the famous Shropshire venue. Following a similar format to 2006, the Mini Masters Trial will once again take place on Saturday afternoon and is reason alone for everyone to ensure that they are at Hawkstone Park for both days over the last weekend in July.

More than three thousand fans turned out twelve months ago to watch ex World champion Marc Colomer and crowd favourite Amos Bilbao fight out what was a highly competitive, yet humour packed battle around a shortened course. Colomer showed that he had lost none of his magical technique, whilst Bilbao constantly acted the clown as he also notched up several cleans. Sportingly, although Bilbao won the final section shoot out the two old rivals shared the winner’s champagne on stage, much to the delight of the appreciative audience who knew they had just witnessed something very special and unique.

As per last year Colomer and Bilbao will be joined by Italian legend Donalto Miglio, Spanish supreme Joan Pons and Britain’s very own vice World champion Steve Saunders. Saunders will be looking for revenge this time out, as last year he sacrificed his chance of victory for a piece of great nostalgia when he opted to ride a replica of his old works Honda in certain sections. Whilst the aging four stroke looked and sounded fantastic it was no match for the modern machinery being used by the other riders. Enjoying the whole atmosphere of the event Saunders really entered into the spirit of the occasion and even found time to take a swig of beer from a bottle passed to him by his minder as he balanced in one of the sections.

Speaking about his forthcoming visit to Hawkstone Park, Colomer commented. "I am really happy to have been invited to ride again, as the competition last year was something very special, and something I enjoyed very much. The British public really appreciate trials, so it was great to ride in front of such a large crowd again. I just need to warn Amos, that it will not be so easy for him this year, as I have been practising so that I can take away his crown from him. But, I think all the riders will have been practising, so I think it will be a great trial."

June 2007

Never prepared to rest on their previous successes L+M Events have added yet another new element to the TMX Grand Prix Great Britain, which will be held at Hawkstone Park over 28/29 July. For the first time ever the public will have the chance to test ride the latest model bikes from all the major trial manufacturers. For the last six months L+M Events have been working behind the scenes with Britain's main five importers to put together this fantastic and unique opportunity offering what will be the UK's biggest ever trials test session. Beta / Gas Gas / Montesa / Scorpa / Sherco have all now confirmed their attendance.

Two separate test sessions have been slotted into Saturday's already hectic schedule, to give the public the chance to ride their chosen selection of bikes. Registration will be done on the day, with the test rides being free of charge for any one holding a valid event entrance ticket. With only limited availability, interested parties are advised to register early in the day, as demand is sure to be high. No bookings prior to the day can be accepted. Please note those wishing to ride must bring their own boots, helmet and protective clothing.

Representatives from all the major UK importers, along with their supported riders, will be on hand throughout the test sessions to offer their expert guidance and advice, to ensure that the public get the most from their time on the various bikes they opt to try. A designated test area will be set up away from the main World championship course that will incorporate suitable terrain for all levels of riders from novice through to expert.

Saturday 28th July
09.00 - 11.00 Public test Session
09.30 - 11.00 Technical control for World Championship riders
10.30 - 11.00 Autograph session for World Championship riders
11.00 - 13.00 Official practice for World Championship riders
13.00 - 14.30 Masters Mini-Trial
14.30 - 18.00 Section inspection for World Championship riders
15.00 - 17.00 Public test session

Speaking about the forthcoming test sessions, John Lampkin of Beta UK stated: " Giving the public the opportunity to test the full array of trials bikes at such a major event is a great idea, and one I am sure the public will see as the icing on the cake for what we all know is going to be another fantastic weekend for British trials."

Reinforcing Lampkin's comments, Caroline Sandiford of Montesa UK added. " Hawkstone has been brilliant for promoting trials in this county over the last two years, and I am sure that by including these new test sessions the public are going to enjoy the occasion more than ever. What's great is that the people will get the chance to ride the production version of the same bike that Bou, Lampkin and Fujinami will be winning on! "

The TMX Grand Prix Great Britain will take place over two days once again, with the trial itself taking place throughout Sunday. In addition to the test sessions, Saturday's programme will be packed with autograph opportunities with the top riders, official practice and an extended version of the Mini Masters trial, which was received so well on its introduction last year. More details regarding the Mini Masters trail will be released soon. The trade village, that will include some of the UK's biggest dealers, distributors and importers, will be open throughout Saturday and Sunday.

For the first time ever entrance tickets can be bought online, with great discount on advance bookings being available from today. To book tickets / reserve on site camping / full event info visit www.ukworldtrial.com  - Trade / sponsorship / general enquiries call 0161 705 2075

May 2007

Preparations for the TMX Grand Prix Great Britain to be held at Hawkstone Park on 28/29 July are gathering pace, with just over seventy five days remaining before the famous Shropshire venue welcomes the most skilful two wheel riders on the planet for the third and final time. Event promoters L+M Events, headed up by Martin Lampkin as Course Director and Jake Miller who is in charge of the overall event management, have been hard at work to deliver a showpiece finale to mark the end of their three-year agreement with the FIM.

Speaking about the forthcoming event, Lampkin stated. "I think it is fair to say that the last two years at Hawkstone Park have been a big success both for the riders and the public. It would be easy to sit back and do the same again, but we really want to create something different this year, so that we can go out with a real bang so as to speak. Both of the original man made sections have been moved to totally new locations, to create two new hazards that will be a real sting in the tail for the riders and will create a great climax for the spectators. "

"The course is even shorter than before to make it even more spectator friendly. There will be two main groups of sections on the hillside plus the final two hazards back near the main stage, so you will be able to see ten out of the fifteen sections without walking more than one hundred metres from the start. Also by running the course in completely the opposite direction, means we have been able to reverse many of the sections, as well as adding in some new stuff. Even I am excited, and that doesn't happen very often." Further commented Lampkin.

Continuing the theme of change, the trial will have a new main area, with the start / finish stage, factory trucks and closing two sections all being located in a compact and central spot close to the main action. This has created more space for a larger trade area, which will accommodate all the major UK trials companies including the official importers and biggest dealers / wholesalers.

"The new layout is a result of what we have learnt over the past two years. We wanted to create better spectator viewing without losing any of the atmosphere, and I think the changes we have made will really help in this respect. The format we have had has worked well and has been at the heart of the success we have enjoyed over the last two editions, but we really are focused on taking it to an even higher level this time around." Explained Miller.

Miller continued. "Realistically this is probably going to be Dougie Lampkin's last ever home Grand Prix, so its only right we deliver an event that is worthy of the occasion. Let's just hope every off road fan has got the date marked in their diary and is going to be there to give Britain's most successful off road rider ever the farewell he so richly deserves."

The TMX Grand Prix Great Britain will take place over two days once again, with the trial itself taking place throughout Sunday. Saturday's programme will be packed with autograph sessions with the top riders, official practice and an extended version of the Mini Masters trial, which was received so well on its introduction last year. Adding extra weight to Saturday and new for 2007 will be public test sessions, with all the manufacturers pledging their support to supply bikes and personnel so visitors can actually ride the latest models - more details regarding this unique opportunity will be released over the coming months.

April 2007

The opening round of the 2007 FIM Spea Trial World Championship held in Spain earlier this month provided a great preview to the campaign ahead and the fantastic battle that is sure to unfold as the Worlds best trials riders fight to become the new King. Although the series will not visit the UK until late July, preparations are already underway to ensure that the TMX Grand Prix Great Britain keeps its place as one of the best events on the tour, as it has done over the last two years. The famous Hawkstone Park circuit will once again host Britain's most prestigious trial, which will take place on 28/29 July.

British interest in the title race, not only in the World pro class, but also in both the Junior and Youth classes could not be higher, with the prospect of a home winner in all three categories being a real possibility. Twelve times World champion Dougie Lampkin continues to lead the charge in the top class, and his third place at the opening GP confirms that his dream of an eighth outdoor crown remains within his reach.

Commenting about the 2007 season Lampkin said. "I think some people thought I would be just making up the numbers this year, but hopefully after finishing on the podium in Spain they will realise that I am as committed as ever to winning. I know it is going to be difficult to out ride by younger rivals, but I have experience on my side. You have got to take each round at a time, but I can't help thinking about winning my 100th Grand Prix and coming to Hawkstone Park with a real shout of taking the title. Winning there in 2005 ranks as one of my best victories ever, and with no British round planned for 2008 and 2009, this year might just be my last ever home GP."

Lampkin will be backed up by reigning European champion James Dabill in the World pro category, the youngster from Leeds proving to be the sensation of the first round with a career best sixth position, a result he may secretly be hoping to improve on when he visits home soil later in the year. Flying the flag equally high in the Junior class is Dabill's ex team mate Michael Brown. The Beta rider romped to a massive victory in Spain to confirm to his main rivals that he is serious about taking the title this season, after he slipped to third in 2006 despite leading the series during the first part of the year.

Having won the 2006 World Youth championship Alexz Wigg has elected to move up to the Junior class a year early, with his age restricting him to compete on a 125cc machine against the larger capacity bikes of his older competitors. Despite this disadvantage Wigg secured an incredible third spot at the first GP, and will be relying on some loud home support to urge him up the steep Shropshire sections later in the year. Ross Danby took the same position in the Youth category in Spain, and completes the pack of British riders with a real hope for success in 2007, especially when the action arrives at Hawkstone Park.

March 2007

Co - Directors of L+M Events, Martin Lampkin and Jake Miller are proud to announce 'the third and final home coming' of World trials at Hawkstone Park. Following on from the last two highly acclaimed editions of the event held during the summer of 2005 and 2006, the 2007 Grand Prix Great Britain will once again return to the famous Shropshire venue on its now established date in late July. Having been extremely delighted with their previous association with this event, T+MX (Trials + Motocross News) will continue their title sponsorship of this blue ribbon competition, with support from its sister publication DBR (Dirt Bike Rider).

The weekend of 28/29 July 2007 will see L+M Events fulfil their three-year agreement with the FIM. Both Lampkin and Miller have stated, that having reached the end of their current contract with the World governing body, that they have no intention of running another World championship outdoor trial until at least 2010. This has been confirmed with the recently released 2008 official sporting calendar revealing that there will be no World round on the UK mainland next season.

Having been responsible for bringing World trials back to the UK after a long absence back in 2005, L+M Events are now totally focussed on delivering a final chapter in this current run that will leave great memories etched in the minds of the British fans. The 2007 edition could just prove to be one of the most important events in the modern era of the sport, as perhaps trials' biggest legend prepares to say farewell.

With the undisputed King of trials, Dougie Lampkin having not yet confirmed his intentions beyond the end of this season, and with there definitely being no UK World round in 2008 and not a real prospect in 2009, this could potentially be the multi World champion's last ever home Grand Prix. Although Dougie failed to repeat his famous 2005 victory last Summer, no one will forget those emotional and dramatic scenes at a sun drenched Hawkstone Park two years ago, when the highly popular Yorkshireman confirmed that trials had certainly come home.

Never a company to rest on its previous successes, L+M Events has been busy planning a finale suitable for a King, and just how apt that might prove to be. Whilst maintaining the key elements, which have seen over sixteen thousand off road fans enjoy their last two editions, Lampkin and Miller have been working hard to ensure that 2007 is distinctly different for the public and the riders alike.

The same two-day format will remain, with the trial itself taking place throughout Sunday.

L+M Events will again benefit from the kind and expert assistance provided by Bradford + District Motor Club team headed up by Ron Eddings, as they take charge of the huge cast of observers, officials and technical staff, without whom the trial simply could not run. L+M Events would also like to take this opportunity to thank John Collins of the ACU for his continued support and Salop Motor Club for the kind use of their land.

For the first time ever entrance tickets can be bought online, with great discount on advance bookings being available from today.

August 2006

Over eight thousand fans packed into the famous Shropshire venue that is Hawkstone Park, to witness the second successive staging of a round of the FIM Trial World championship on the UK mainland. The 2006 TMX Grand Prix of Great Britain had a hard act to follow with the inaugural event in July 2005 being considered by many as the best round of last year's series. However despite the anticipation and high expectations this year's event delivered on a new and an increased level, with riders from as far a field as Australia and Japan taking part in the competition.

The newly introduced Mini Masters trial on Saturday afternoon proved to be highly popular with over three thousand enthusiastic fans packing the wooded hillside to watch riders of yester year in action. The small, but select invitation only entry showed that they had lost none of their old magic as the field of Donato Miglio, Steve Saunders, Joan Pons, Marc Colomer and Amos Bilbao all passed through the first section with relative ease.

Ten times British champion Saunders relished the opportunity of riding again in front of his home fans and even found time to take a swig from a beer bottle that was handed to him midway through one of the hazards. Whilst it was 1996 World champion Colomer who eventually collected the winner's champagne, it was Bilbao who brought the largest roar from the crowd with his familiar extrovert antics.

Rewarded with a fighting fourth place for his efforts, Britain's multi World champion Dougie Lampkin was unable to repeat the victory he enjoyed twelve months earlier and missed out on the opportunity of clinching his 100th Grand Prix win on home soil. However there was plenty for the British crowd to cheer about, with home winners in the other two classes. Michael Brown moved within two points of the Junior championship leader thanks to his latest victory, whilst teenage sensation Alexz Wigg moved to the head of the Youth standings after his victory at Hawkstone.

Eurosport commentator Jack Burnicle kept the crowd informed from the main stage in the factory paddock in his own controversial style. Whilst out in the woods Steve Colley and Woody Hole provided the large crowd with up to the minute information thanks to the SWAN live electronic scoring system that plotted the rider's progress section by section. This new facility helped build a fantastic atmosphere as Japanese Takahisa Fujinami snatched a single mark victory from championship leader Adam Raga, who in turned demoted Albert Cabestany by the same slim margin to create one of the closest finishes of the season.

L+M Events would once again like to thank the British public for turning out in their thousands and playing their role in what will go down as part of Hawkstone Park's rich history. Also they would like to extend their most sincere appreciation to all their loyal sponsors and traders whose contribution is priceless. With over one hundred staff on site, it is impossible to thank each and everyone individually, however everyone involved can be proud in having done their bit to deliver this highly successful event.

Special mentions go to Ron Eddings and his Bradford and District Motor Club crew, without whom it simply would not happen; to Dave Willoughby for his kind assistance and expertise; to John Collins from the ACU for smoothing the way; to Salop Motor Club for the loan of their famous land and especially to Maggie Challinor for her endless work. Following difficulties with local residents and certain departments of the local authority, L+M Events will be conducting a full review over the coming weeks before making an announcement regarding the staging of the 2007 Grand Prix Great Britain.

UK World Trial Grand Prix - Round 8 FIM Trial World Championship 2006

The stage is almost set, with just over a week to go before the arrival of the FIM Trial World Championship to the UK mainland, with the T+MX Grand Prix Great Britain taking place at Hawkstone Park on 29 / 30 July 2006. This famous Shropshire venue has a rich history of hosting epic international motorcycle events, and the forthcoming trial looks set to continue this proud tradition.

Chasing a record breaking eighth World outdoor title, British favourite Dougie Lampkin is not only looking to repeat the victory he secured at the same event last year, but with the added bonus of having the opportunity to record his 100th Grand Prix win to mark yet another milestone in his incredible sporting career. Cheered on by eight thousand home fans in 2005, Lampkin snatched a dramatic last lap win twelve months ago and will be hoping for a similar performance to improve on the third position he currently holds in this year's series.

Lampkin will not be the only rider looking forward to returning to home soil, as having recently claimed the European title to add to his World Junior championship, James Dabill is sure to welcome the opportunity to perform in front of a British crowd. Now competing in the World championship class, James' best result to date was a seventh place at the Portuguese Grand Prix earlier in the year. With plenty of vocal support behind him Dabill will be going all out to try and break into that exclusive top five.

Britain has plenty to shout about in every class. Young Michael Brown from Scarborough has a real chance of repeating Dabill's 2005 success and lifting this year's World Junior crown. Currently third in the overall standings, Brown is only seven points behind the series leader and could close the gap if he can pull off a victory on home turf. It is a similar story in the Youth class, with Alexz Wigg hunting down championship header Loris Gubian. Wigg has ground to make up after having missed the Japanese GP due to school exams, but is still in with a good chance of the title, with only ten out of twelve days counting in the supporting classes.

With event organisers L+M Events hard at work ahead of next weekend's event, good news has come courtesy of Sandiford Motorcycles. Three brand new Montesa Cota 4RT bikes have been kindly loaned to the event team by the official British importer in order to assist with course construction prior to the trial and to provide transport for the travelling marshals over the course of the weekend.

"We are delighted to be associated with the World trial. It was a great event last year, and it is sure to be better this time around. In addition to sponsoring a section, we will also have a dealer present and having the bikes there will really give us a good presence, on a weekend when both Dougie and Montesa could make history by winning his 100th World trial." Commented Caroline Sandiford.

Discounted advance tickets / pre booked camping sales close on 21st July, but entrance tickets / camping passes will be available on the gate throughout the weekend.

UK World Trial Grand Prix - Round 8 FIM Trial World Championship 2006

Dougie Lampkin

There is now only four weeks to go until the T+MX Grand Prix Great Britain takes place at Hawkstone Park on 29 / 30 July 2006. Without doubt this will be the biggest trial in the UK calendar this year and is the only remaining World championship status off road event to take place on these shores in 2006.

Advanced ticket sales are well up on those sold during the same period last year, so a record crowd is expected to fill the famous sandy Shropshire venue by the time the series arrives during the last weekend in July. Discounted advance tickets / camping passes will remain on sale until 21st July, although standard price tickets will be available on the gate throughout the event.

Whilst the riders and the pubic applauded the sections last July, L+M Events have been hard at work to create a more compact course that will feature four new hazards to compliment the other extensive revisions that have been made. The main spectator 'bowl' will now house six spectacular sections and will benefit from a newly installed PA system that will be used to keep everyone up to date with what is happening else where on the course.

Eurosport's very own Jack Burnicle will head up a commentary team that includes ex World championship rider Steve Colley and ex international trials minder Woody Hole. These guys will have access to live section by section scores thanks to a new electronic scoring system that will make its World debut at Hawkstone Park.  The SWAN scoring system, developed in New Zealand, will be updated each time a rider exits a section, this information is automatically uploaded to a web page that can be accessed by anyone on site who has an internet enable mobile phone or PDA device.

Whilst the main trial will take place on Sunday, there is a whole weekend of action on offer. Saturday morning will begin with an autograph session with the top riders, this will then lead straight into the only official practice session of the weekend. The two hours of training is not to be missed as it is a great opportunity to see the riders up close and in a relaxed frame of mind compared to the pressure they will be under the day after. Steve 'showtime' Colley has two mind blowing demonstrations planned, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, when the flamboyant Manx man will put on a display of extreme trials riding like no one else on the planet can match.

Saturday's jewel however will be the Mini Masters trial that includes no less than two ex World champions in its selected entry list. With seven World titles to his name, Jordi Tarres is a true trials legend, but his past achievements will be of little interest to his rivals with whom he will be reunited, in a trial that will take place over a reduced course using a conducted format. Fellow ex champ Marc Colomer and crowd favourite Amos Bilbao complete the Spanish trio that will take on the Italian maestro Donalto Miglio plus ten times British champion Steve Saunders, and hopefully ex vice champion Diego Bosis in this truly unique event.

Adding weight to an already packed weekend, Gas Gas will launch their 2007 trials range at Hawkstone Park and will be joined by Beta, Sherco, Montesa and Scorpa in the trade village along with the country's top trials dealers and distributors to make it the biggest trials exhibition of its kind in the UK.

UK World Trial Grand Prix - Round 8 FIM Trial World Championship 2006

With just sixty days to go to the T+MX Grand Prix Great Britain, on 29 / 30 July 2006 at Hawkstone Park, preparations are well under way to ensure that this year's event is even more successful than the well received initial edition held twelve months ago. This in itself is a major task, with over eight thousand fans packing the Shropshire venue last July to confirm their approval.

This year sees the introduction of a brand new element, with a World class Mini Masters trial planned for Saturday afternoon. This will be an event within an event and will bring together some of the best ex-riders on the planet for a truly one off and unique opportunity. Spanish trials legend and seven times World champion Jordi Tarres heads an entry that will also include another previous World champion in the form of Marc Colomer.

Far from having an easy Saturday afternoon ride, these guys will be up against it with crowd favourite and former World championship round winner Amos Bilbao also looking to win this prestigious past masters trial. Multi British title holder and ex vice World champion Steve Saunders will be making a rare outing as he goes all out to up hold British honour against a strong foreign contingent.

Only a brave man would pick a winner from the above names, as Beta's current factory test rider Donato Miglio is riding more than ever and will be hoping that his regular practice sessions will give him the edge over his old rivals. Negotiations with other ex top riders is on going with Diego Bosis being one of the names who remains as a natural addition, and who is set to confirm his appearance very soon.

The Mini Masters trial will take place as a conducted event, with all the sections being in close proximity to the factory paddock, allowing spectators to follow these sporting legends every inch of the way as they resume their rivalry against each other. As with the rest of the weekend, Eurosport's Jack Burnicle will be on hand to provide live commentary and to grab interviews with this exclusive entry.

Commenting on this exciting addition to the programme, Jake Miller of L+M Events explained: "Our whole idea is to create a weekend of activity and entertainment rather than just a one day trial. Sunday looks after itself, and if the climax to the trial is anything like last year, then the public are going to be in for another great and memorable day."

"What we wanted to do was to give people an extra reason to also enjoy Saturday with us too. Having seen the reaction from the public when Tarres, Colomer and Bilbao joined in practice with the current riders last year, we knew we had to expand on an idea that was already a winner. Getting these guys back together in a competitive yet fun event is a really exciting prospect."

The Mini Masters trial is part of a full programme of events planned for Saturday, which also includes official practice for the World championship riders, plus demonstrations and training sessions by Mr Showtime - Steve Colley. With on site camping available from Friday, families and friends are invited to book early and make this an important part of the Summer holiday period.

For further information about the event, details of discounted advanced entrance tickets, camping bookings, and for trade space / sponsorship enquiries please call L+M Events on 0161 705 2075 or visit the official event website www.ukworldtrial.com

UK World Trial Grand Prix - Round 8 FIM Trial World Championship 2006

Hawkstone Park 29/30 July 2006

With just two rounds of the FIM trial World championship completed, the 2006 series is shaping up to be one of the closest ever title fights with only a few points separating the four main contenders. Britain's very own Dougie Lampkin is amongst these early front runners and will hope to arrive at the T+MX Grand Prix Great Britain on 29 / 30 July 2006 at the famous Hawkstone Park venue, in a commanding position.

In the premier class Lampkin will be joined by James Dabill, who having moved from the Junior category as World champion, is already making his mark amongst the more established names. His career best seventh place at the last round in Portugal is a position he will be looking to improve on when he has the advantage of riding on home soil.

Picking up from where his team mate Dabill left off, Michael Brown is now dominating the Junior championship having won both of the opening rounds in style and against strong Spanish opposition, who were tipped to be the pre-season favourites. If all continues to go to plan Brown may be in a position to clinch his first ever-international title by the time the series reaches the sandy Shropshire venue.

The current strength and depth of the British assault in the Youth division is unrivalled by any other Nation. This group of emerging talent and potential future World champions will be looking for great home support when their campaign arrives in the UK in late July. This will be just reward for their efforts, which by that time will have taken them all over the World in search of young glory. Alexz Wigg spearheads this group and currently holds second place in the series, the rest of the top order is packed with the likes of Lee Sampson, Sam Haslam, Richard Ellwood and Ross Danby.

Course planning is already underway, with section master Martin Lampkin having unearthed four brand new hazards. He is also working on revamping the remainder of the sections to present the riders with a very different challenge and to once again provide the public with some of the most spectacular hazards seen anywhere on the World circuit.

Speaking about the preparation for this year's event, Jake Miller of L+M Events confirmed their intention of making the 2006 trial even bigger and better than the outstanding round they delivered last July.

"There is no doubt about the success of our initial event, but there is no way we can stand still, as people will be coming this year expecting more and that is exactly what we want to give them. The improvements we are making are wide spread with better camping facilities through to giving spectators increased viewing opportunities with two additional sections in the main group and an extra hazard close to the start.

"People are still talking about last year's trial, with the improvements we are making and the additional activities we have planned for Saturday including the Mini Masters event, we are aiming to give them an even more memorable experience this time around. There is a real buzz of excitement amongst the organising team that seems to be spreading, with advanced tickets selling twice as fast as last year."

UK World Trial Grand Prix - Round 8 FIM Trial World Championship 2006

Hawkstone Park 29/30 July 2006

Just a month after the official launch of the T+MX Grand Prix Great Britain, which will take place on 29 / 30 July 2006 at the famous Hawkstone Park venue, the event is gathering momentum at a rapid pace. Such was the success of last years' trial, that the initial response from both the public and trade has been simply overwhelming with tickets sales breaking all records and over half the trade space sold already.

All five major British trials importers will be in attendance, showing the latest models from Gas Gas, Beta, Sherco, Montesa and Scorpa, making it the biggest and most complete trials exhibition in the UK. Along side these will be a selection of the most important trials dealers in the country who will have all the best brands of clothing and accessories for sale, not to mention the many other trade stands.

Although the World championship trial itself will take centre stage on Sunday, there will be a whole weekend of action and entertainment on offer. Gas Gas UK are planning a massive presence with their own dedicated area and activities including demonstrations by Steve 'showtime' Colley, and an interactive training session by the popular Manxman - more details to be confirmed at a later date.

Behind the scenes various planning is well underway, especially with regard to the newly introduced Mini Masters trial that will take place on Saturday afternoon. Whilst full details cannot be released at this stage, L+M Events can confirm that a very important British signing has been made this week. Not wanting to give too much away Jake Miller of L+M Events explained, "We saw how popular Saturday's practice session was last year and we really picked up on the public's response to certain non competing riders who were having a play. So with this in mind we have decided to create an event within an event, which will be both very special and unique anywhere in the World.'

Confirming the growing status of the event, Hope Technology (www.hopetech.com) has stepped forward to both sponsor and produce the main event trophies. The British manufacturing company that produces the World famous and highly trick mountain bike hydraulic brake systems plus other components and more recently offroad motorcycle parts, has a long association with the sport with co-owners Ian Weatherill and Simon Sharp both having been top grade trials riders in their time.

Hope Technology will use all their engineering expertise to create nine anodised aluminium master pieces as the main awards, and are currently exploring various ideas to produce smaller items that will become the official limited edition souvenir of the trial and will be on sale to visitors throughout the weekend. Commenting on the association Hope's sales co-ordinator Woody Hole, who is another former top line trial rider, said "Obviously Hope has a rich trials history and is extremely proud to be involved with the World trial at Hawkstone Park. If last year is anything to go by, this year's event is going to be incredible and one we are all looking forward to being a part of.'
